President Robert Mugabe has called Zanu (PF) supporters to pray for embattled Secretary for Administration, Didymus Mutasa who is hospitalized in South Africa.

In his address to delegates on the last day of the Sixth Zanu (PF) Congress, Mugabe revealed that Mutasa had called him from South Africa revealing that his wife was sick as well.

Mugabe said that in as much as Zanu (PF) supporters were angry with Mutasa, who has been fingered as being part of the group that was plotting his ouster from power, they needed to sympathize with the man.

“I received a call in the morning and it was from Mutasa. He told me that he was in hospital but said that he was feeling better. He also told me that his wife is not well and that they were planning to send her to India for treatment and I encouraged him to do that.

“I wished him well. Let us wish him a speedy recovery. I know he went the wrong way with others, some who are still here but still, we need to pray for him,” said Mugabe.

Mugabe said that people wishing to take over the presidency were free to do so but said that they should come out in the open rather than arrange things clandestinely.

This was in apparent reference to Joice Mujuru and her perceived allies in Zanu (PF.

“Everyone is free to challenge me. What we do not want is people who plan and say how do we remove him from power,” said Mugabe.

He however cooled down tempers at the congress when he told delegates that they ought to preserve peace at all costs even if they have differences.

“What I would like to tell you is that let us observe peace. We must not have contests that generate into chaos. No we d not want that,” said Mugabe.

Mugabe should have called for peace before the Congress when youth were vowing to attack Mujuru if she attended Congress. This man is a clever crook, a clever pretender.

hypocrisy at it’s highest level. He knows no one will ever come out to challenge him even if he could be a hundred years incapacitated in bed…all cowards in zanu pf will ever challenge him. The man is confused, he swallowed the hook line and sinker from grace and ngwena
