The NDAC will review cases of members who were either suspended or expelled from the party since the run-up to the party’s acrimonious December 2014 congress.
Zanu PF national spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo did not say when the 11-member body would commence work, but insiders say the committee would work “with immediate effect”.
“The politburo has appointed Vice-President Mphoko as the chairperson and set up a committee made up of the following 10 people; Jacob Mudenda, Douglas Mombeshora, Paul Mangwana, Kembo Mohadi, Absolom Sikhosana and Sydney Sekeramayi,” Moyo said.
“Other members are Melody Dziva, Sabina Thembani, Ellen Gwaradzimba and Tabetha Kanengoni,” Moyo said.
Mphoko, a key G40 faction member, superintended over the suspension of about 200 members of the party since the 2014 congress in his capacity as the chairperson of the National Disciplinary Committee. Most of the affected members were accused of supporting former Vice-President Joice Mujuru’s presidential ambitions, while of late the NDC has suspended several party members in Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s faction.
Most of the victims were not afforded a chance to be heard.
Mugabe, under pressure from the Mnangagwa camp, last month agreed that party members who were suspended or expelled without due process can now appeal.
Since the announcement several party officials, including former ministers Webster Shamu, Nicholas Goche, Francis Nhema, have appealed former war veterans minister Chris Mutsvangwa and his wife Monica, who were suspended this year, have also appealed.
Moyo said Zanu PF national commissar Saviour Kasukuwere also informed the politburo that Joram Gumbo has been appointed the Midlands province’s interim chairperson following intense factional fighting pitting G40 and Mnangagwa’s loyalists in the troubled region.
Kasukuwere told the politburo that an inquiry has been initiated in Midlands to find the cause of the problems in the troubled region.
Secretary for the war veterans Sekeramayi briefed the politburo about the meeting Mugabe held with war veterans last month on April 7.
“The president then said all government structures such as the Ministry of Finance should give high priority to the requests of the war veterans,” Moyo said.
