THE Canadian Embassy has urged government to intensify its efforts in investigating the disappearance of journalist-cum-human rights activist Itai Dzamara, who was allegedly abducted three weeks ago by suspected State security agents, but has not yet been accounted for.

In a statement, the Embassy of Canada to Zimbabwe said the government must respect human rights and freedom of the people to express themselves and petition.

“Canada remains deeply concerned by the forced disappearance of Zimbabwe human rights activist Itai Dzamara on March 9 2015 and the fact that no light has been shed on his fate or whereabouts to date,” the statement read.
Dzamara was allegedly abducted in Glen View suburb hardly a day after he made a solidarity speech at an MDC-T rally and held solo campaigns to force the Zanu PF government to resign over its failed economic policies.

“We call upon the government of Zimbabwe to live up to its commitment and increase its efforts to investigate the disappearance and bring those responsible to justice,” the embassy said.

“We also stand in solidarity with the people of Zimbabwe who look to a future where democratic principles and the respect for human rights take centre stage in their country. This future can only be truly realised when people are free to express themselves, to demonstrate and petition if necessary in a bid to hold their government to account, and to do so without fear of retribution.”

Retaliation to the evils of Zanu PF calls for any resonblw person to give Mugabe and his company the same medicine that Dzamara’s family are going through. Abduct and cause much suffering to anyone connected to Mugabe. His wife and children are even not staying in zimbabwe. That should be easy. Many poeple have suffere at this hands. World been condeming since 1980 till now but he does not stop cause it is not painful enough. Tooth for tooth. Eye for an eye. Body for a body

The facts of the disappearance of Itai Dzamara strongly suggest that he was abducted by state agents in order to silence his voice of protest against the rule of Robert Mugabe.
The apparent non-investigation by the ZRP to find Dzamara appear to corroborate this viewpoint. There are no reports of people being interviewed; no suspects being identified and questioned; no evidence being collected. Nothing, but the smug silence of a police force that no more than a tool of the ruling party.
We need to know where Dzamara is and we demand his release.
Let us all pledge that we will not allow the case of Itai Dzamara to just disappear like Dzamara himself, but that we shall keep demanding answers until the truth is uncovered.

Indeed we need pressure to be applied on this murderous administration and the Canadian Government has to be applauded for its stance.

We the people have to play our part as well so that Dzamara does not become another of the many forgotten fallen heroes of our struggle against ZANU.
