Australia has commended Zimbabwe for its desire and efforts to hold peaceful and fair elections on July 30. This was said by Australian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Ms Bronte Moules when she paid a courtesy call on Minister of Energy and Power Development who is also acting Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo.
Korean Ambassador Cho Jaichel also paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Khaya Moyo.

The Australian Ambassador said she was impressed by the calls of peace.
“We are trying to follow closely on the electoral process. We are encouraged by strong desires from all sectors of the society for peaceful elections. It is something that seems to be a commitment for the well-being of the country.

“It is important for the people of Zimbabwe,” she said.
Ambassador Moules said she had a fruitful meeting with Ambassador Moyo and was looking forward to strengthening relations between Zimbabwe and Australia.

“We also talked about the existing friendship between Australia and Zimbabwe and hope we can build on this in the future. There is an interest from the Australian government and private sector point of view in seeing free and fair elections,” she said.
Ambassador Moules said her country will be observing the elections as well.

“We value the relationship between Australia and Zimbabwe. We will have an observer for the elections from the embassy and also some official may come from Australia,” she said.

Ambassador Moyo said it was clear that Government was doing everything to ensure elections were held in a peaceful environment.

“Everything is being done to ensure peaceful, fair and credible elections. So far, there is no sign of any violence. We are proud of that in terms of our people and we look forward to continuation of this conduct.

“There is no doubt that by the end of the day all people and observers will realise that we are peaceful people. We mean what we say,” he said.

Ambassador Moyo said President Mnangagwa has been eloquent in explaining to the world that Zimbabwe is open for business.

“We would want business to come. We have all kinds of resources and we invite those interested in any sector to come. This is a God given rich country and we have literate, peaceful and hard-working people,” he said.
