POLICE in Mashonaland Central have a launched a manhunt for Imigrame Malaki (40) from Concession in connection with a murder case in which he is alleged to have killed his neighbour using a wooden log.

Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe who confirmed the incident said Malaki is said to have killed Jaison Dambakuriwa after a misunderstanding.

“We are looking for a murder suspect, Malaki of Mashazhike compound, Concession, who allegedly murdered his neighbour Jaison Dambakurimwa (38) in a misunderstanding,” Mundembe said.

According to the police, the suspect went to the now deceased’s house on Christmas day armed with a catapult. Upon his arrival, he met Dambakurimwa in his yard and started assaulting him without saying anything.

As the fight intensified, Malaki pulled a wooden log and started assaulting Dambakurimwa on the head.

Dambakurimwa’s wife Helen Chundu fled and went to nearby houses to seek help. When she came back with other villagers, Malaki had disappeared after severely assaulting Dambakurimwa.

The matter was reported to Concession police. Dambakurimwa was taken to hospital where he succumbed to the injuries, two days after admission.

Police are appealing for information which can lead to the arrest of Malaki.
