Victor Matemadanda, the secretary of the war veterans’ association has said that he has been told by “three sources” in the meeting between president Robert Mugabe and the generals that Mugabe has resigned.
“He has resigned but is still in the country,” said Matemadanda to much applause from a small crowd that had gathered at Mugabe square, the scene of yesterday’s gathering before the march to state house by thousands of Zimbabweans.
Matemadanda said although his sources were in the meeting, he has not yet got the official confirmation.
