The Zanu-PF Mashonaland West provincial leadership has warned losing primary candidates mulling to contest the forthcoming elections as independents that they would be dismissed automatically from the party.

Addressing Zanu-PF leadership and supporters from Zvimba South recently, Zanu-PF Mashonaland West provincial vice chairman Cde Dexter Nduna said the leaders would expeditiously deal with errant members trying to derail the party’s campaigns ahead of the July 30 harmonised elections.

Cde Nduna, who was appointed vice chairman following the ouster of Cde Keith Guzah recently, chairs the provincial disciplinary committee.

“I come from Chegutu, but I am here (in Zvimba South),” he said.

“Do not lose your blessings because you want to clap your hands. A prophet is despised in his own land. He is without honour only in his own land.

“People do not like their own prophets, but if your candidate comes to Chegutu he will be welcome and the people will carry him high and appreciate him.”

Zifa president Cde Phillip Chiyangwa beat five other candidates in primary election run-off for the right to represent Zanu-PF for the Zvimba South constituency in the forthcoming elections.

His victory has been dismissed by one of the losing candidates, Cde Zandile Maseko, who was recently quoted in the media arguing that the poll was rigged in favour of Cde Chiyangwa.

Other losing candidates, Cde Crispen Saidi, Cde Jesca W. Tapfumanei and Cde Sign Chabvonga are reportedly campaigning for Cde Chiyangwa.

“It is sad and disturbing to hear that there are Zanu-PF supporters from Zvimba South who are reportedly saying they want to stand as independent candidates because they do not want our Member of Parliament, they don’t even like our President,” said Cde Nduna.
