A HARARE woman has hauled her husband’s girlfriend to court accusing her of forcing her minor child to drink urine.

Ethel Meki said Nyaradzo Shamhu made her child drink urine while she was at work.

“I was at work when she arrived and took my child whom l had left in the custody of a neighbour and forced her to drink her urine. My neighbour’s child saw it and told me everything,” Meki testified.

According to Meki, Shamhu beat the minor with an iron rod, inflicting injuries.

The woman told the court that Shamhu was on a mission to destroy her marriage so that she could enjoy her husband’s money.

Meki said she took the child to hospital for treatment and the respondent was still visiting her house uninvited to cause violence.

She mentioned that at one point, Shamhu threw stones at her in public.

Meki describes Shamhu as a person who failed to destroy her marriage, and now wanted to eliminate her child.

“ At first l thought l was only the target, but now l am realising that if l fold my hands, she will succeed. That is the reason why l am here,” said Meki .

She also informed the court that Shamhu was in the habit of damaging windows and at times she jumped the gate into her compound to harass her.

In her defence, Shamhu denied all the allegations claiming to be the owner of the husband and was not willing to leave him.

“ l am ready for Meki anytime. She is fabricating facts against me so that l may surrender,” Shamhu argued.

Despite the fact that Meki was hurt, Shamhu continued to dispute the allegations, claiming that she also want to move in with Meki’s husband.

After the presentation from both parties, the court granting an order in favour of Meki to protect her and the minor child.

Presiding magistrate Ms Meenal Narotam warned Shamhu against abusing Meki.
