Zanu-PF Secretary for War Veterans Cde Victor Matemadanda has urged war veterans to unite with all party structures in ensuring peaceful primary elections next month.

Cde Matemadanda said it was the mandate of the veterans of the struggle to ensure the elections were peaceful.

“That is what we fought for, we fought to have peace in the country so for these coming primary elections we are encouraging veterans of the struggle to unite with party structures,” he said.

He said having peaceful primary elections was a sign that the party and its members were eager to hold free and fair national elections.

“Our President, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, made it clear on his inauguration that the country will hold a free, fair and credible election, so it is now the mandate of every member of the party to show his commitment in making this happen,” he said.

Cde Matemadanda said war veterans had always played a role in uniting people during elections.

“I know as war veterans we have our grievances, but the new administration has shown concern and will surely address our grievances,” he said.

“We should focus on wining the elections at the moment.”

Cde Matemadanda, who has since submitted his CV for the Gokwe South seat, urged all other veterans of the struggle vying for posts to work hard for the development of their respective constituencies.

“We have a number of war veterans who have submitted their CVs and my word is if they manage to win let them work to develop their constituencies,” he said.
