EX-ZIPRA combatants have said that they are in the process of listing title deeds of identified properties for submission to Zanu PF vice-president Kembo Mohadi (pictured) soon, as they seek to have the properties returned.

The Zanu PF government reportedly confiscated Zipra and Zapu properties at the height of the Gukurahundi massacres and efforts for the former liberation war fighters to repossess them have been fruitless to date.

Zipra properties committee chairperson Volta Moyo said they identified more than 80 of their properties and that they have submitted their findings to Mohadi in consultation with the government as instructed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

“We are listing title deeds of identified properties for submission to Mohadi. Categorising was done as per the advice from Mohadi who is also our patron. We are also in a process of registering Zipra members as shareholders to their company Nitram,’’ Moyo said.

He added that widows and children of the Zipra members who passed on need to be identified.

“This will enable everyone getting share certificates. The process is not moving as fast as we expected due lack of resources in the form of vehicles and money. We are, however, grateful that we have established an office in Bulawayo for safekeeping of our records and where the board will operate from,’’ he said.

Zanu PF second secretary, Mohadi, yesterday claimed that the return of properties belonging to Zapu and the Zipra was imminent.

Zipra was the military wing of Zapu during the armed struggle.

Zapu and Zipra have been demanding the release of their properties such as farms and buildings.

Addressing a Zanu PF campaign rally in Luveve, Bulawayo, Mohadi said: “Government is in the process of finalising some of the information and documentation needed before handing over the properties.”
