Spirit Life Foundation (SLF) brought an early Christmas cheer to the under-privileged children and the elderly in Chegutu with hundreds of children receiving gifts and scholarships.
The non-denominational Christian organisation reached out to 108 children and 40 adults including the elderly for an early Christmas cheer on December 23.
“In the spirit of Christmas and epitomising the mantra ‘nyika inovakwa nevene vayo’, Spirit Life Foundation embarked on Operation African Jewel. The operation sought to reach out and bring a Christmas cheer to the underpriviledged African Child,” SLF said.
“As the adage goes, charity begins at home, Spirit Life Foundation created and birthed in Chegutu started by targeting its own community.”
SLF donated toys, food hampers, stationery and clothes.
In addition, scholarships were given to five beneficiaries.
The scholarships cover tuition, uniform, stationery and food including shelter.
“The generosity steps practised by SLF to the underprivileged saw huge numbers cheering with children enjoying the delicious food and entertainment at Rukawo Motel in Chegutu, provided by the organisation,” SLF said.
“With an eye into 2024, Spirit Life Foundation has placed on its calendar a fundraising dinner at one of the most prestigious hotels in the capital filled with glitz and glamour as it seeks to stretch its tentacles nationally.”
