A HIGH-profile investment delegation arrived in Zimbabwe from the United Arab Emirates yesterday evening and immediately declared that it would build a solar panel manufacturing plant in the country.

Led by billionaire Mr Shaji Ul Mulk, the group’s arrival is in line with the ‘Zimbabwe is open for business’ mantra being spearheaded by President Mnangagwa.

Mr Mulk credited the initiative to a global drive via the T10 Cricket League.

“We have investors today and many more coming later. Projects include solar panel manufacturing, drone surveillance for agriculture, sodium cyanide production, and a virtual hospital,” he said.

Special Investment Advisor to the President, Dr Paul Tungwarara, said several investors have already prepared Memoranda of Understanding to start work immediately.

“We are about to finalise the solar manufacturing plant, which will produce panels locally and export globally,” he said.

Dr Tungwarara said Zimbabwe has received 600 inquiries for new investment from the UAE. With further investments expected at today’s Presidential Youth Fund launch where President Mnangagwa will be the guest of honour, the country is emerging as a hub for sustainable development and green energy innovation.
