ZANU PF MP for Hurungwe West, Temba Mliswa, has said he is not finished politically and warned rivals against hasty celebration of his supposed demise after he was expelled from the ruling Zanu PF party.
The expulsion also means he loses his parliamentary seat and it remains unclear whether he will contest the expected by-election.
Bidding farewell to members of the parliamentary portfolio committee on sports, arts and culture which he used to chair, Mliswa said he was “happy to have worked with all sports stakeholders and I wish you well and support from the committee”.
“You can kick Temba out of politics, but you cannot kick politics out of Temba,” he said Thursday after receiving oral evidence from Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) on the state of football in the country.
“This is my last day here. I am just waiting for my letter to be delivered but I wish you all the best,” he said bidding farewell to ZIFA president, Cuthbert Dube who had come to give oral evidence along with his divided board.
Mliswa was on Wednesday fired from Zanu PF along with his uncle and former secretary for administration, Didymus Mutasa, on allegations of insubordination and disrespecting party leadership.
Mutasa and Mliswa join former national spokesman Rugare Gumbo and ex-war veterans leader Jabulani Sibanda who were also expelled as President Robert Mugabe purged lieutenants he accused of trying to topple him.
The talkative and firebrand MP was fired on allegations ranging from insubordination, denigrating party leaders, interfering with the running of the party’s youths and women’s leagues in the province, extortionist behaviour and continuing disrupting party meetings.
His expulsion from the party renders his seat vacant.
Mliswa, a key Mujuru ally had also been suspended from being provincial chair over the same allegations.
