Grace Mugabe goes on a warpath

via Grace Mugabe goes on a warpath – The Zimbabwe Independent 8 August 2014

PRESIDENT Robert Mugabe’s wife, Grace yesterday went on a war path indirectly attacking Vice-President Joice Mujuru and her allies, while aggressively announcing her readiness to enter mainstream politics as leader of the Zanu PF Women’s League ahead of the party congress in December.

If there were any doubts that Grace is coming in as the Women’s League boss to try to derail Mujuru’s ascendancy to the presidency after Mugabe, it became evident yesterday when she made statements attacking the Vice-President as she threatened to deal with those opposed to her nomination and who pose danger to her family and business interests.

Grace’s manoeuvres in the run-up to the Youth League conference today and the Women’s League assembly next week seem calculated to shipwreck Mujuru, while apparently propelling her bitter rival, Zanu PF heavyweight and Justice minister Emmerson Mnangagwa in the race to replace Mugabe.

Looking angry and aggressive, Grace also threatened those involved in factionalism, saying those who will ignore her warning would be “playing with fire” during an address to thousands of youths and women at her farm in Mazowe. The youths, who chanted war cries during her confrontational speech, had converged to show solidarity over her nomination to the helm of the Women’s League.

Current Women’s League boss Oppah Muchinguri, who is spearheading the campaign to elevate Grace, made remarks which seemed targeted at Mujuru and allies, particularly Women’s Affairs minister and fellow politburo member Olivia Muchena. She said there were people, who belonged to the late Abel Muzorewa’s UANC, plotting against Mugabe even though they were generously welcomed into Zanu PF and given top posts.

Muchinguri even claimed she was now receiving assassination threats for campaigning for Grace, although she said she was not afraid. She also alleged that there were people intending to kill Mugabe to take over power.

Grace, however, told Muchinguri not to worry as she is prepared to fight rivals portrayed as enemies.

“My time has come to show people what I am made of,” Grace warned.
She said she might have a “small fist”, but when it comes to fighting, “I will put stones inside it to enlarge it, or even put on gloves to make it bigger. Do not doubt my capabilities”.
Grace insinuated her life and interests were under threat after Mugabe’s time in power.

“Pane vanhu varikuda kundizvuzvurudza mutara (There are people who want to drag me against a tarred road) when the President goes,” she said.

Grace also said some people accuse her of forcing Mugabe to continue as leader, denying them a chance to take over. She told the youths that those vying for top posts in the party should wait for the right time.

She urged the youths to refuse to be used by senior party officials who use money and other dirty means to buy votes and positions.

“People should learn to wait for their time. Patience pays. Here I am, I never dreamt of entering politics, but you have approached me to do so and I am ready to go. You said you want to work with me and I said yes, but you should know that I am strict,” she said.

Grace was nominated by all 10 provinces to be Zanu PF secretary for the Women’s League during her 49th birthday celebrations two weeks ago.

In the same belligerent address, she also threatened to deal with Zanu PF Mazowe South MP Fortune Chasi, alleging he was interfering with her bid to grab more land in the area and seize Manzou Game Park where she claims she wants to build a secondary school, hospital and Robert Mugabe University in order to generate revenue to support her orphans.

Urged on by the youths who were shouting hondo, hondo! (war, war!), she escalated tensions by describing herself as “monya (bouncer) for hire” and a “force to reckon with”.
“Don’t worry, I will rein him in,” Grace told the youths as she declared war on Chasi.

Muchinguri also accused Zanu PF factional leaders of being thieves who have plundered the country’s wealth and now want political power to protect their loot.

“We hear others were given bed spreads and money by Americans. Others are hidden in mountains. Why those desperate moves. They came from Muzorewa and other parties and we accepted them in Zanu PF, now they say Mugabe should go; why?” Muchinguri charged.

The good thing is Grace is being used as a shield,Muchinguri was afraid to face Mai Mujuru head on. Now I find the missing piece of puzzle. Mujuru is no longer there, so they think they can bulldoze the Deputy President. One more thing whilst there are keeping on shouting, Mai Mujuru is quite, do these people know that they dealing na Teurairopa Nhongo. That woman is deadly, regai muone.

All you commentators, I wonder why we always fail to inform each other about the evil that befell us.
    1. Grace Mugabe, of all people, with all the wealth that she acquired and a lot of cash stashed in Singapore, how much more does she want from this little country? How much more milking is she expecting to extract from a very thin cow called Zimbabwe?
    2. Grace Mugabe, revealed that Chasi and his “paid gang” went to court. Why did she not go to court also if she is so much talking about rule of law?
    3. Grace Mugabe, talks so much about helping the orphans. And everyone falls over her thinking that here comes the giver. I ask and I challenge, where did she get all the money that she splashes out every time she gets a chance to sneak out of the country? Robbing Zimbabwe and then hide behind the poor orphans while enriching yourself to filthy riches.

This is the evil we face guys. I care less if zanoids are at each other’s throat. In shona they say “pfuma yenhaka inoparadza ukama” But until Grace Mugabe learns that whites are human beings, equally Zimbabweans, holding legitimate rights to their farms, Grace Mugabe and his evil followers will continue to perpetrate evil.

Now any doubt you zanoids why we are a cursed lot?

Truly, I am not political and I definitely do not trust in politics and more definitely I do not trust anything that is even remotely ZPF anymore as they have gone from a hope for a nation to the destroyers; but I would take Mujuru over Grace anytime. Grace must simply shut up and crawl back into her typists chair. I wonder what she feels when she settles into her pew in the church she attends on a Sunday. Is this behaviour christlike???????

  • comment-avatar

Tell me ZPF ladies, does a cry for war come from the ‘mother’ of a nation? You do not know what you are letting yourselves in for.

Observation 1. While the local press has focused on speculation about a Mugabe dynasty, this development in the WL begs the question as to which upgrade position Machinguri has been promised; for her to roll over so enthusiastically.

The assault on Mujuru might not be via Grace but via Mutasa’s position. Sometimes in boxing, rather than immediately going for a knockout punch to the head, you start with a few, heavy body blows – removing the general was one.

Observation 2. If so, then moving Grace onto the game board would really be a sweetener so as to get the president’s approval, a linked but secondary strategy; to control that WL post and begin to protect family and family assets after Mugabe goes.
This may yet prove to be a miscalculation. Like all sweeteners, the pleasure may be temporal while the underlying bitterness becomes longer lasting

read this also a piece in the article when she punched the journalist of how cunning she is when in an earlier article she called herself a humble person ….

“Grace’s favourite shop is still Harrods, in London. Although she is banned from travelling to Europe and America, she actually still shops there. Groceries, handbags, shoes, and a host of other things are still being bought at Harrods by Grace. The way she does this is simple: She uses staff at the Zimbabwe Embassy onThe Strand. There is apparently a specific woman at the Embassy, called Dorothy, whom Grace uses for this purpose.

Grace herself phones up Harrods and places orders for what she wants. She has been in that store many times and apparently has their catalogues sent to her by the embassy. After ordering, she is told how much she owes. The money comes from Zimbabwe, according to what I am told by sources in the president’s office.

Grace hands the cash over to one of two employees of Air Zimbabwe, which flies directly to London. Ten hours later, Dorothy will recieve the cash at the airport in London. She then goes and pays for the goods, collects them and sends them to the airport. Air Zimbabwe picks them up on their return trip to Zimbabwe and the goods are delievered to Grace. So the banning from Europe has not in the least bit affected her, except maybe in the sense that she can’t be there in person for impulse buying! All that the sanctions have saved us is Grace’s airfare to London.

Even then, I am sure Dorothy at the Embassy as well as the Air Zimbabwe employees get a good commission, which gobbles up what the country saves from not having Grace fly to London.”

Disgrace was using the embassy in the London to do the shopping for her – this was the time when Air Zimbabwe still flew to London.

Grace dear, when Mugabe dies and ZANU PF starts gorging on itself in an orgiastic maelstrom of self destruction over the pitiful remains of Zimbabwe there will be many eager to see you dead. Given the mood of the people it will not be a pleasant passing. If I were you I would be looking for a bolt hole in Malaysia and making sure you can get there when the dreaded day comes. I would also make sure that your children are there before it happens, because retribution will be swift and unpleasant.

Surely these youths ought to be taught love and allegiance to their country, reconciliation with those of different opinions/persuasion from theirs; but mostly that as they are the future leaders of this country they should expend their energies on economic development goals and entrepreneurship rather than waging a war against innocent civilians.
