via Indigenised Eaglesvale School now bankrupt – NewsDay Zimbabwe 13 August 2014
ONE of Harare’s most prestigious private schools and one of the most expensive in the country, Eaglesvale, has gone bankrupt shortly after its headmaster and a standing member of President Robert Mugabe’s Zanu PF party, Naison Tirivavi allegedly took sole control of the school administration.
Tirivavi was reportedly suspended last year, but bounced back and allegedly fired the same board which was investigating him for alleged misappropriation of school funds and assets.
The elite school, which is owned by the Dutch Reformed Church, was then scrambled with the assistance of Zanu PF officials, and finally seized early this year under government’s indigenisation programme.
Sources said Tirivavi announced on Monday that the school was no longer able to pay general workers’ full wages and proposed a cut on their working hours.
This was so despite the fact that the school charges up to $3 600 per student each term. The fee structure is as follows: boarding $3 600, day high school $2 300 and junior school $1 450 per term.
After overturning his own suspension early this year, Tirivavi returned to work and allegedly conducted a ceremony where he announced the school was now be indigenised because of the Dutch Reformed Church’s foreign origin.
The ceremony was attended by Local Government minister Ignatius Chombo, Education minister Lazarus Dokora and Finance minister Patrick Chinamasa.
Despite an ongoing Supreme Court challenge by the Dutch Reformed Church board, Tirivavi has reportedly declared that the school was now under “The Reformed Church of Zimbabwe”.

COMMENTS
Tirivavi is a dishonest & incompetent person who has ruined a wonderful institution that has operated efficiently for years. Worst of all he had the tacit support of senior government ministers. We as a country will only start making progress when we start employing the best people to run our institutions both private & public regardless of race.
Zimbabwe is now one of the most racist societies on earth.
I agree with you 100000%,.we are in the diaspora kuvarungu chaiko…they are not racists at all. Idzi mbudzi dzeZanu idzi dzatibira mufaro.

Racist thieves and they all proud to be “land owners” we will have our day
this is educational genocide and the perpetrators should be arrested and hung by their collective nuts-this is not about how big a chef you are because you take a private school, which had mixed race pupils, it is about your childrens education.put sanctions on international education for the zanu ministers kids and see how they like the present situation—
Fuc##d up thugs
Further destruction….but oh it must be due to sanctions surely?
ZANU’s do not have the ability to learn it appears. They keep on chasing whites out and the spoils keep on turning to ashes in their hands.
In the rest of the world it has been learned that racism does not pay. How long for our Neanderthals to get the lesson?
When their knuckles stop dragging on the ground J.T!
Could be waiting a long time Doris
Its sad we allowed a bunch of terrorists to govern us in 1980. Little did we know that in the last 35 years these very same thugs would not relinquish power and make Zimbabwe descend into ugly chaos. A long established school, Eaglesvale, is just one of the many institutions that Zanu PF has destroyed. In 35 years they have created nothing but destroyed everything. Its shocking to witness this sort of corruption that has devastated the country which in 1980 had so much to offer. But Zimbabweans must take full responsibility for the chaos created by a one man party, led by a Robert Mugabe. He has instilled so much fear in Zimbabweans that has enabled him to have a free hand. If this was another country he would have been history by now.
I guess he stole all the money that should have been used to run the school and will be protected by the ZANU PF compromised prosecution system and judiciary. Once again Mugabe allows the thieves to be protected because they are his thieves. In South Africa the affected black communities such as the workers would simply beat him to death, which may be barbaric but it does act as a salutary lesson to the thieves.
