Opposition party donates to flood victims

LITTLE-KNOWN opposition party, Transform Zimbabwe (TZ), last week took its campaign into the capital city where it donated various foodstuffs and building material to hundreds of families in Epworth and Hopley whose houses were destroyed by heavy rains.

TZ president Jacob Ngarivhume visited most of the affected families at the informal settlements last Friday and donated bags of cement and promised to help in the reconstruction process.

He also paid his condolence to the Munjaranji family of Waterfalls following the death of their six-year-old son, who drowned in a pit dug by sand poachers.

Addressing some of the families left homeless by the rains, Ngarivhume blasted Harare City Council and the Environmental Management Agency for not being proactive in the face of a major humanitarian crisis.

Both council and central government are yet to provide material support to the families.
