Day-old chicks production and table eggs supply dropped last year after the outbreak of AI at Lanark Farm owned by Irvine’s Zimbabwe.

GOVERNMENT has extended the suspension of customs duty on hatching eggs to allow duty free importation following an outbreak of avian influenza (AI) last year.

Statutory Instrument 124 of 2017, which was gazetted to bridge the supply gap of day-old chicks created by the outbreak last year, expired on January 31, 2018.
