ESTRANGED senior Zanu-PF officials who orchestrated the G40 machinations and were jettisoned from the party are now trying to use money to get back into the party, Women League chairperson Cde Mable Chinomona has said.
Addressing members of the Women’s League in Gweru yesterday, Cde Chinomona said there were some members of the party who were facing disciplinary action over their involvement in the G40 machinations who were trying to buy their innocence. Cde Chinomona said some women were being paid to conceal some of the misconducts of former G40 members so that they would be exonerated.
“There are some G40 members who are coming to us with money so that they would not be charged or face disciplinary action. We know that some women are being paid so that they conceal their acts of misconduct. Let me warn you, as for me I won’t sell out because I know how people suffered even during the liberation struggle. No amount of money can buy or bribe me. We know that something is happening and women are getting money from some of these people. Women, let us shun that,” she said.
Cde Chinomona also warned women against using the G40 rhetoric to settle their personal scores.
“As you are aware our President Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa said we must move on despite what happened in the past. He wants people to reconcile and work together. Ve G40 vabatei maoko (Those from G40 help them). Those that want to reform and repent forgive them but those who are not genuine we can’t work with them because there is nothing that guarantees us that tomorrow they won’t sell out,” she said.
Cde Chinomona said unlike her predecessor (Mrs Grace Mugabe), she will not divide the party and rely on gossip but will unite women and reconcile them to ensure a resounding victory for the revolutionary party.
“We are not going to do what Marujata (Mrs Mugabe) was doing. We will listen to the concerns and priorities of women and will not go about gossiping. This caused death to a lot of people including Cde Shuvai Mahofa, Cde Esphina Nhari and many others who were vilified by the previous executive. Women, let us put more effort in uniting people than gossiping. This divides the party. Do not come to my office to gossip,” she said.
