A 27-YEAR-OLD suspected Zimbabwean murderer is reportedly on the run after he broke out of Lephalale Police Station in Limpopo province, South Africa, on Monday.

The South African Police Services (Saps) told Southern Eye on Tuesday that the suspect, Petros Moyo, was linked to the murder of farmer Werner Emslie on September 20 this year. Moyo allegedly shot and killed Emslie and injured his wife during a robbery at the farm.
After an initial court appearance, he cut his way out of police cells in what police suspect could be an inside job.
In a statement, Saps spokesman for Limpopo province Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said police had launched a manhunt for Moyo.
“Police in Lephalale have launched a massive manhunt for the awaiting trial prisoner who escaped last night,” Ngoatshe said in a statement.
“Moyo, aged 27, was arrested for the alleged killing of Dr Werner Emslie and injuring his wife who is also a doctor during a farm attack in September this year.”
“He appeared before the Lephalale Magistrate Court on Monday and had his case postponed until the next day. He had been denied bail to allow further police investigations,” Ngoatshe said.
On September 20 this year Moyo and three other accomplices allegedly shot Emslie dead before driving away in the couple’s car which they later dumped.
Moyo was arrested in the Free State region and charged with murder, housebreaking, and illegally entering South Africa.
“He cut the security barriers and our internal probe will uncover that,” he said.
