What nobody seems to have realised among all the celebrations is that nothing has changed. Mugabe was an embarrassment, even to them so now we have someone younger and just as vicious. The only hope is that the elections next year are monitored by the UN. It could be a condition of any kind of big foreign aid.

The government may not make a person or a class of persons exempt from constitutional protections, as it did during farm invasions, nor may it make government officials exempt from complying with the law, as it has been doing.
