Masvingo province endorses Mugabe

The Zanu (PF) Masvingo provincial leadership has endorsed President Robert Mugabe to be the party’s first secretary and leader ahead of an elective congress later this year.

The provincial executive led by Retired Brigadier General Callisto Gwanetsa unanimously endorsed Mugabe despite concerns over his age and health. They also retained Joice Mujuru as the second secretary and vice president.

“We met as a provincial executive recently to deliberate on a number of issues but among other resolutions we agreed to retain our leader despite his age because we feel he has the qualities to lead the party,” said a highly placed source within Zanu (PF).

“If the President hints at retirement, the first people to know are us who are in the structures of the party. He has not done that so we are retaining him,” said the source.

Zanu (PF) Masvingo provincial spokesman Goddard Dunira said “It is true that we are behind President Robert Mugabe. We do not know any other leader besides him.”

Mugabe controversially won last year’s presidential elections and critics say his policies have ruined the country’s once vibrant economy.

He shuttles constantly between Harare and the Far East to seek medical treatment.

That’s a very mis-leading headline. There is no need for it at all.
Mugabe was endorsed by His ZANU-PF Masvingo executive DEFINITELY NOT a decision representative of the whole Province. Please kwanayi.

When one chooses to remain stuck in a condemned drying pool, one wonders whether they are blind or deaf about the encroaching end.Unless this is a simple message that Mugabe created this mess under our auspices and with him we shall stand as long as the status quo keeps us standing.

The pool the crocodile is lying in is becoming more and more crowded soon they will turn on each other as is natural history when the pool dries up. Sometimes the crocodiles leaves the pool for overseas relief but in the end of the day has to return to the diminishing pool . When the pool gets to a certain point the death of the inhabitants is inevitable. That stage of the pool has been reached.

Truly ZPF are ridiculous. It is time for this Mudhara to retire. They have made a rod for their own back and for Zimbabwe’s. Do NOT lift up a mere man as God. Find a younger more progressive candidate and show you have some form of brain cells please! Otherwise ZPF will cease to exist one day if there is no renewal which most of us would not lose any sleep over.

For the last 2 elections at least, the presidency of Zimbabwe is not elected freely and fairly but decided upon by Mugabe, the JOC and ZANU-PF. Within that current reality, the probable choices facing those structures for the 2018 election are Mugabe, Mnangagwa and Mujuru.

Unless the electoral game rules are changed, the question in the hearts of most Zimbabweans should be this – if (for now) we accept that we do not have what it takes to stand up for our rights or to find a new way forward after the MDCs lost the plot, who would you rather have imposed upon you, from amongst those three characters? If you are a card carrying ZANU PF member, probably Mugabe. If you are in the opposition, probably Mujuru. Everyone (except the JOC) fears the crocodile.

So if things stand as they are now, ZANU PF Masvingo’s provincial leadership’s declaration will, in due course, be echoed by the other provincial executives.
