SeedCo chairperson Mr Michael Shongwe Ndoro, who is accusing his former wife of stealing over US$2,3 million, has told the court that she abused her position of ultimate trust to steal from him.

He said this during cross-examination by Precious Star Jenami’s lawyer, Mr Oliver Marwa.

Ndoro said Jenami was asked on several occasions to provide a disbursement account but failed to do so

He pointed out that it was accepted that withdrawals of a maximum of US$5 000 were permitted, but Jenami was withdrawing in most cases amounts way above US$15 000.

Mr Ndoro further told the court his ex-wife wilfully and unlawfully transferred money belonging to the company to her personal account.

Allegations are that on dates unknown to the prosecutor, Jenami transferred various amounts of money from the company’s Standard Chartered Bank into her personal accounts, which she allegedly failed to explain.

The court heard that as a result of Jenami’s actions, Mr Ndoro suffered an actual prejudice of US$2 309 249,86.

On the second count, it is alleged that Jenami transferred US$2 309 249,86 from Interfruit’s Standard Chartered Bank into her personal bank account that she had acquired unlawfully, knowing that it was proceeds of crime.
