Mutasa strikes back

via Mutasa strikes back – The Zimbabwean 20 January 2015

When Robert Mugabe summoned 12 000 people to his farcical ‘elective congress,’ at which he ratified a raft of unconstitutional party resolutions, he did not expect a reaction from the out-manouvered team of alleged assassination plotters, Joice Mujuru and Didymus Mutasa.

The former Zanu (PF) secretary for administration released a statement, in which he branded the 6th congress an ‘illegal December meeting which masqueraded as a congress’ and declared the event ‘null and void.’ In his statement Mutasa also said ‘Central committee meetings immediately preceding the so-called congress were shrouded in threats, fear and total failure to express individual opinion.’

From the moment Grace Mugabe gave her first ‘meet the people address,’ it was clear that Zanu (PF) would never be the same again. I for one was thrilled by the chaos at Rotten Row. To borrow a phrase worn thin by ZBC, ‘Zimbabweans from all walks of life’ were pleased to see the crumbling of a party whose misrule has brought so much suffering to ordinary citizens.

However, I will be first to admit that Mutasa makes some compelling points, chief of which is Mugabe’s deviation from the principles of the liberation struggle. State-owned media has repeatedly described Mutasa as one who has ‘lost his way’ – VaMutasa varasa gwara.
