Blow for Mugabe’s 90th birthday gig

via Bulawayo24 NEWS | Blow for Mugabe’s 90th birthday gig 21 January 2014

ZANU-PF has centralised this year’s fundraising campaigns for the 21st February Movement in a desperate bid to curb the increasing extortion of companies and individuals by its members using the party’s name.

The 21st February Movement organises annual celebrations to commemorate President Robert Mugabe’s birthday.

Mugabe turns 90 next month and the movement always throws lavish birthday parties with thousands being treated to free food and drinks.

Some Zanu-PF youths in Bulawayo were fingered for trying to extortmoney from some non-black-owned companies they approached to pay some form of “protection fee” soon after the elections, threatening those that did not comply with expropriation.

Bulawayo provincial youth chairperson Khumbulani Mpofu said the new fundraising arrangement was communicated to all provincial youth chairpersons at a recent meeting in Harare.

“This year, a new approach will be adopted towards fundraising for the president’s birthday, the 21st February Movement,” Mpofu said.

“All donations will be handled by a national fundraising committee of which I am a member.

“The main reason is to get rid of our members extorting money from individuals using the party name.

“You might be aware that was happening in Bulawayo in the past,” Mpofu said.

He said some youths were taking advantage of the party and soliciting donations from companies and unsuspecting individuals and not handing over proceeds to the leadership.

However, sources within the party’s structures in Bulawayo said the new approach had irked a section of the youth league that was eyeing to cash in on Mugabe’s birthday.

“After the executive meeting, some comrades, especially those not gainfully employed, openly expressed disappointment at the announcement.

“They were used to just writing a letter on a Zanu-PF letterhead and moving around industries demanding donations which were never handed over.

“So it’s a huge blow to some comrades,” the source said.

Several high profile party members have in the past been fingered for converting funds and gifts meant for Mugabe’s birthday bash to their personal use.

Last year, former Zanu-PF Manicaland chairperson Mike Madiro was taken to court on charges of not handing over 10 beasts donated by a Chipinge farmer for Mugabe’s birthday celebrations.

Most companies and other well-to-do individuals are expected to cough up huge sums of cash to celebrate a private occasion which the ruling Zanu-PF party has nevertheless elevated to a national event.

At 90, we can start counting. The day of reckoning is very, very close. You can tell from all his confessions now, that the man is very much aware his end is nigh. This constant talk about God this; God that is evidence enough!!

  9. Uncle says:

When I saw the headline I thought maybe was going to get a blow job – from Jonathan Moyo

  13. Mthwakazi says:

He is an asshhole and an idot. There is nothing exceptional about him losing his siblings or being abandoned by a father. This is common in many African families.

President Jacob Zuma does not even know his father, whom he lost when he was about five. He took up a job as a gardner in Durban at a very young age, to help fend for his family. There were no missionaries to help him, so he never went to school.

He spent ten years on Robben Island; out there in the sea, surrounded by shalks and all sort of evil underwater creatures – one simply couldnt escape.

Robert Mugabe set comfortably at Chikurubi, and proceeded with his education. Besides, he only took over responsibility over the family at a ripe age of 21; many African children do this at the age of nine or ten; especially these days of HIV/AIDS.

Depite all the suffering, Jacob Zuma is a convivial and jovial man; easy going and to engage. He is not as angry as Gukurahundi Mugabe always is.

Zuma never gukurahundied his fellow African citizens for holding different political views from him or for being of a different tribe and language to his. Instead he was a peacemaker, who worked hard and brought peace to KwaZulu Natal between the IFP and the ANC.

Gukurahundi Mugabe should stop the excuses. He is simply an evil devilish two-legged creature ever to walk on planet earth. He should simply die and go to hell a million times. Satanic evil devil. The Biblical name GABRIEL has real been desecrated by this 90 year old evil dark skinned creature!!

  14. Mthwakazi says:

I for one; I am waiting for the day I will lay my hands on Bona, Chatunga and Robert jnr – you wait!!

They will have to pay a heavy price for their evil father’s sins. If my people are paying a heavy price for the 1890s tribal wars, which they never participated in, why should these little gukurahundis get away – hell no.

They still have a long life ahead of them. We will meet one day; I will hunt them down, especially outside the borders of Zimbabwe!!

  18. JOC says:

Guys, just be careful you don’t become so consumed with hate and unforgiveness that you say and do things that put you in the same category as the very people you are talking about. Its time for us to put those things aside and to think clearly about the future.
Mugabe will die soon enough and will be answerable to a much higher power. We need to think past him and get on with building a new Zimbabwe without hate, greed and selfserving.

  19. Only Fools says:

Well done cde Mabhunu and Mugarbage is a puppet of the East
