From Zvi-mbabwe to Zi-Mberengwa

My People,
As we approach the festive season, I can’t help but imagine the levels of despair in your homes.

letter to my people BY DOCTOR STOP IT

No money. No petrol or diesel. No cooking gas. No bread. No water and electricity most times. No cooking oil. Price increases. Doctors, nurses and other medical personnel on strike while banks have run out of cash and many more including life-saving drugs priced beyond ordinary people.

Anybody would surely think this was part of a horror movie script.

No, this is Zimbabwe. Under the new dispensation. Kutonga kwaro. Experiencing austerity for prosperity, while MPs from MDC Alliance and Zanu PF receive the latest luxury cars.

I hope the handover of the vehicles will be made at State House so we can see if those hypocrites in the opposition will refuse to receive the cars from ED’s official residence.

Back to austerity, we are preaching austerity while the government forks out more than a million US dollars to carry Dr Amai and Gushungo around the world.

Even more scary are the Zanu PF Esigodini conference resolutions, which should certainly sound the death knell for the near comatose economy.

Blast from the past

I came across a statement, which was eloquently read out by Simon Moyo on behalf of government, dismissing Lacoste from government.
There is still debate on whether it was fair or not, true or untrue. I will let you be the judge of that.

Termination of employment as Vice-President

In accordance with the constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment Number 20 Act of 2013, Section 329, 6th  Schedule, Paragraph 14, Sub-paragraph (2), His Excellency the President, Comrade RG Mugabe, has exercised his Powers to relieve Honourable vice president ED Mnangagwa, of his position as Vice-President of the Republic of Zimbabwe with immediate effect.

It had become evident that his conduct in the discharge of his duties had become inconsistent with his official responsibilities.

The vice-president has consistently and persistently exhibited traits of disloyalty, disrespect, deceitfulness and unreliability.

He has also demonstrated little probity in the execution of his duties.

A disgrace to Journalism

So the Zifa elections have come and gone.

The disgraced sports desk at one of the country’s media organisations is licking its wounds.

Godfathers of corruption who were supposed to be on leave were coming back to work to do public relations work for some of the contestants at Zifa with the result that we saw a lot of stories with no bylines.

The moguls of corruption who have featured in both the Asiagate and post Asiagate improprieties are refusing to throw away their bad deeds.

In the end, it is the reputation of The Horrid that has been left in tatters.

Not that it had much of a reputation, but readers on its online platforms expressed disgust at the conduct of sports journalists who become activists in football politics.

Below, as part of trying to remind the government or leaders of what they may seem to be forgetting, we have an extract from The Chronicle of mid-August in which Lacoste Dhakisi told the nation that those believed to have been behind the White City Stadium explosion had been identified and would be dealt with after the elections.

In African culture it is regarded as taboo to accuse adults of lying so we will not accuse anybody of lying or misleading the nation.

We could say maybe there has been an oversight in dealing with the bombings that killed some Zimbabweans.

Or will exposing the culprits cause “instabiriti and a dhibhiritataing poritical environment”?

Bulawayo rally terrorists identified…ED says culprits to be dealt with after electoral process

People behind the Bulawayo bombing that killed two people and left 47 Zanu PF members with severe injuries in June are now known and will be dealt with soon after the current electoral processes are over, President Mnangagwa has said.

The bomb was detonated soon after President Mnangagwa’s address when the VIPs were leaving the stage and almost wiped the Zanu-PF leadership top four except for Cde Obert Mpofu (secretary for administration) who was not at the rally due to other commitments.

Tribalism, nepotism and State capture

Many Zimbabweans are becoming unsettled by the perception that the politics of segregation practised by Gushungo is now being practised by Lacoste.

Zimbabwe is for all its people even if they are not from Zvimba or Mberengwa.

Such oversights have been known to cost certain leaders power at some stage or another.

That is why we end up seeing people seeking endorsement as presidential candidates years before an election.

Is the seat becoming too hot? Are factional meetings being held in Kariba in boats at night now unsettling? Why panic to the extent of holding a rally in Mugabe’s backyard?

Munopenga! Munopenga!
Ntombizodwa woyee!
Dhakisi pfocho!
Dr Amai Stop it!
